What is a flat roof?
A flat roof is a roof which has a pitch of no greater than 10 degrees. Generally, flat roofs are constructed from timber joists, which are overlaid with a flat timber decking such as plywood. Insulation is either fitted below the decking or can be glued or screwed down on top of the decking and then overlaid with a suitable membrane. Flat roofs can also be constructed from either pre-cast or cast in situ concrete decks, which are overlaid with asphalt, gravel of felt.
